About Our Organisation

The Water Authority of Fiji is a corporate body established under the Water Authority of Fiji Act 2007 to make provision for the effective management and administration of the Water and the wastewater systems.

We are responsible for providing access to quality drinking water and wastewater services to over 159,000 and 33,540 residential and non-residential metered customers in the urban areas of Fiji and also setting up water supply systems in rural areas.

Position Objective

The Graduate Trainee – Training and Development is responsible for providing full support to the Senior HR Officer – Training and Development and Head of Training and Development in the execution of Training Plan, coordination of the WAF Internship program and effectively contribute to team annual business plan (ABP) targets and projects

Key Accountabilities
  1. Training function effectively assisted
    • Effective and efficient execution of the Training Plan
      • Training Needs Analysis (TNA) disseminated, and results collected and collated for escalation to Senior HR Officer – Training and Development and Head of Training and Development
      • Assist effectively in the compilation of the Training Plan
      • Changes to the Training Plan communicated to all appropriate stakeholders
    • Training Coordination
      • Assist in scheduling training sessions as per the Training Plan and yearly Training Calendar (calendar invites, booking of training venues, preparation of training materials, arrangement of refreshments, transportation and any other logistical arrangements required)
      • Facilitate ad-hoc training requests promptly
      • Administration of training e-learning platforms
      • Prudent management of WAF training facilities
      • Assist in the facilitation of the WAF internal process (internal requisition orders and training document control)
    • Assist in Method A training scheme systems management
      • Collection and compilation of data for mandatory reports and plans submitted to the Head of Training and Development and Manager Human Resources
      • Complete Kirkpatrick’s four levels of evaluation; reaction, learning, behavioural and result as required by Method A Scheme
      • Prudent management of training database and execution of training records
      • Submission of six-monthly training variation reports to FNU as required by Method A scheme
      • Assist in the preparation and execution of Method A scheme grants assessment
    • Training Policy compliance
      • The WAF’s Training Policy compliance is effectively monitored
      • Identify Training Policy non-compliance and address non-compliance prudently
      • Effective and timely contribution towards the Training Policy review process
  2. WAF Internship Program
    • Internship Requests
      • Identification of suitable applicants
      • Timely preparation and facilitation of recruitment minutes
      • Ensure proper channels of communication are adhered to and compliance with WAF Internship Policy is maintained
    • Internship Recruitment/Onboarding
      • Timely preparation of employment contracts and identification cards upon receiving proper approvals
      • Facilitation of Internship recruitment forms and other necessary forms as part of onboarding process
      • Provide prior notification to the requesting officer or supervisor on the engagement or start date of the Intern
      • Induction of recruits carried out promptly
    • Internship Exit Process
      • Administration work relating to Intern resignation or end of contract always handled in manner efficiently and professionally
      • Timely preparation and submission of Notice to Payroll
      • Timely preparation and submission of Certificate of Work Attachment
      • Timely closure of exit files
      • Prudent record keeping of exit files
    • Administration of the WAF Internship Program
      • Prudent record keeping of all Internship personal files
      • Timely update of records
      • Timely submission of Internship reports to Senior HR Officer – Training and Development and Head of Training and Development
      • WAF’s Internship Policy compliance is effectively monitored
      • Identify Internship Policy non-compliance and address non-compliance prudently
      • Effective and timely contribution towards the Internship Policy review process
  3. Training and Development Projects
    • Contribute effectively to Annual Business Plan targets
    • Contribute effectively to additional projects as part of continuous improvement in the organization
  4. Teamwork and cooperation
    • Cooperation within the team and greater function / department encouraged
    • Cooperation across functions / departments ensured
    • Collaboration and leadership to achieve relevant organisational targets and goals
    • Other related duties assigned by the Senior HR Officer Training & Development and Head of Training and Development effectively and efficiently addressed
  5. Organisational Values promoted and demonstrated at all times
    • Support toward the alignment of deliverables to organizational values and strategic directions ensured
    • Organisational values and good corporate and governance practices are complied with in delivering outcomes ensured
Qualification and Experience Requirement
  • Degree in Management/Human Resources Management or relevant discipline.
    OR
  • Diploma in Management/Human Resources Management or relevant discipline
  • Training of Trainers Module 1
Skills and Abilities
  • 6 months - 1 year of relevant work experience in Human Resources/Training and Development
  • Knowledge of FNU Grants and Levy Scheme
  • Basic Knowledge & Experience in the use of Pay Global
  • Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and be highly organized
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • High level of attention to detail with a demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and neutrality in a sensitive environment
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Sound understanding of Fiji’s Employment laws
