About Our Organisation

The Water Authority of Fiji is a corporate body established under the Water Authority of Fiji Act 2007 to make provision for the effective management and administration of the Water and the wastewater systems.

We are responsible for providing access to quality drinking water and wastewater services to over 159,000 and 33,540 residential and non-residential metered customers in the urban areas of Fiji and also setting up water supply systems in rural areas.

Position Objective

The Technician (Meter Hub) is responsible for carrying out new water meter connections installation, commercial and domestic meter replacement and for controlling meter movement. This role reports to the Report Coordinating Officer

Key Accountabilities
  • Stamping and issuing of meters for new connections, meter replacements and other service types under the CMIU functions for the region
  • Ensure the availability of meters, pipes and fittings by monitoring stock levels and initiating timely procurement
  • Maintain a healthy stock of all types of meters, pipes and fittings required for various CMIU functions
  • Issue meters, pipes and fittings to the service contractors based on approved service orders
  • Co-ordinate the transferring or delivery of the meters, pipes and fittings, to the various CMIU stations
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of meters, pipes and fittings, including stock levels, issuance history, and reconciliation data
  • Provide timely and accurate reports on stock levels to the Supervisor and Head of the CMIU
  • Conduct periodic stock reconciliation to ensure inventory accuracy and identify discrepancies
  • Liaise with service contractors to ensure the proper issuance and usage of meters, pipes and fittings
  • Work closely with procurement and inventory teams to ensure timely replenishment of meters, pipes and fittings
  • Conduct meter testing in accordance with the established procedures and prepare test reports and certificates
  • Assist with field tasks such as meter installations, replacements, and verification work as and when required
  • Providing logistical support to the CMIU teams on the installation and replacement of water meters for the region
  • Provide timely and appropriate feedback to Supervisor CMIU on details of meters, pipes and fittings issued to service contactor
  • Periodic reports/documents prepared and submitted as and when requested. This includes weekly reports and stock level reports
  • Providing useful information combined with analysis and interpretation, for the purpose of decision making
  • Provide ad-hoc information as requested by superiors addressed in a timely manner
  • Cooperate within the other SBU’s and teams, department for the smooth functioning and service delivery
  • Collaboration and leadership to achieve relevant organizational targets and goals
  • Carry out other related duties assigned by the Supervisor or the Head of the CMIU
Qualification and Experience Requirement
  • Trade Certificate/Certificate III/Certificate IV Plumbing & Sheetmetal or Water Fitter Supervisory/Water Fitter Intermediate
  • At least 3 years’ relevant experience in similar role
Skills and Abilities
  • General knowledge of District Meter Management Concepts and Importance of Service delivery
  • Familiar with Gentrack
  • Familiar with fittings names & sizes
  • Computer literate with ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) functions
  • Able to work under minimum supervision
  • Strong administrative experience/skills
  • Be physically fit with a can-do attitude to perform the tasks required
  • Have a valid driving license
