About Our Organisation

The Water Authority of Fiji is a corporate body established under the Water Authority of Fiji Act 2007 to make provision for the effective management and administration of the Water and the wastewater systems.

We are responsible for providing access to quality drinking water and wastewater services to over 159,000 and 33,540 residential and non-residential metered customers in the urban areas of Fiji and also setting up water supply systems in rural areas.

Position Objective

The Finance Officer (Plant Hire) is responsible for the effective maintenance of WAF's Plant Hire together with overseeing the relevant documentation maintained with regards to the Plant Hire. This role reports to the Operations Accountant.

Key Accountabilities
  1. Effective and efficient maintenance & administration of WAF Plant Hire
    • Accurate & Transparent scheduling and issuing of plant hire request from various department in all regions for both Operations and Projects.
    • Timely and correct entry of plant request which includes
      • Consolidating Plant Request and Input in the plant hire software
      • Input of Additional information entered as required/deemed appropriate
    • Timely and accurate plant hire analysis & reconciliation
    • Ensure fair rotation for all plant hire requests in all regions.
    • Timely and relevant periodic updates/adjustments made to with manual plant hire books and request.
    • Timely system entry of all manual PO issued across the regions
    • Assist and work closely with Operations team during emergencies or non-working hours with regards to plant hire needs.
    • Plant hire recording policies and procedures developed and continuously refined
    • Timely and relevant information provided to relevant parties for hire plant reports as well as other hire plant reports and records.
    • Cross-training provided to relevant staff in relation to plant hire processes and procedures as required.
    • Current, accurate filing system that ensures hire plant records are secured, maintained at all times
    • Timely, relevant and accurate reports prepared and submitted
    • Quality and timely advice provided as and when required
    • Full compliance with the WAF Plant Hire Policy and SOP is ensured
  2. Timely, relevant and compliant reporting
    • All internal and external (if any) reporting requirements in regard to WAF's plant hire fully understood and correctly executed
      • Robust and relevant periodic reports prepared and submitted as and when requested.
      • Manager Finance provided with useful information combined with analysis and interpretation, for the purpose of decision making
      • Ad-hoc information request by superiors addressed in a timely manner
  3. Teamwork and cooperation
    • Cooperation within the team and greater function / department encouraged
    • Cooperation across functions / departments ensured
    • Collaboration and leadership to achieve relevant organisational targets and goals
    • Other related duties assigned by the Supervisor, effectively and efficiently addressed

Qualification and Experience Requirement
  • Diploma in Accounting/Finance or Information Technology with 3 years’ experience
    OR
  • Degree in Accounting/Finance or Information Technology with 2 years’ experience
