System Design and Implementation:

Mechanical Systems Design:

• Conceptualization: Assist in design of mechanical systems, including pumps, compressors, HVAC systems, and valves, for new installations or upgrades. Develop detailed design specifications, drawings, and schematics.
• Selection of Equipment: Assist in evaluating and selecting appropriate mechanical equipment and materials based on operational requirements, efficiency, durability, and cost considerations.
• Integration: Assist in ensuring mechanical systems are properly integrated with electrical controls, automation systems, and existing infrastructure. Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure system compatibility and optimal performance.

Installation Oversight:

• Supervision: Assist in overseeing the installation of mechanical systems, ensuring work is performed according to design specifications and industry best practices. Manage installation teams and subcontractors.
• Quality Assurance: Conduct inspections and testing of installed systems to verify that they meet design specifications and performance criteria. Address any issues or deficiencies promptly.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

• Preventive Maintenance:
  • Maintenance Planning: Assist in developing and managing preventive maintenance programs for mechanical assets, including scheduling regular inspections, servicing, and replacements. Create maintenance checklists and procedures.
• Corrective Maintenance:
  • Issue Diagnosis: Assist in the diagnosis and troubleshooting of mechanical failures, utilizing diagnostic tools and techniques. Analyse system performance data to identify root causes of issues.
  • Repair Management: Assist in performing corrective repairs, ensuring that all repairs are conducted safely and in accordance with industry standards. Verify that repaired systems are tested and functioning properly before returning them to service.
• System Monitoring:
  • Performance Analysis: Monitor the performance of mechanical systems using diagnostic tools and SCADA systems. Analyse data to detect trends, predict potential failures, and optimize system performance.
  • Alerts and Alarms: Respond to system alerts and alarms, taking appropriate actions to mitigate any potential issues and minimize system downtime.

Operational Support:

• Technical Assistance:
  • Support Provision: Provide technical assistance to operations staff, including troubleshooting complex issues, offering solutions, and advising on system operation and maintenance.
  • Training and Development: Develop and deliver training programs for operations and maintenance staff on new systems, technologies, and best practices.
• Performance Optimization:
  • Efficiency Improvements: Identify and implement improvements to enhance the performance, efficiency, and reliability of mechanical systems. Conduct performance evaluations and recommend upgrades or modifications as needed.
  • Process Optimization: Analyse operational processes and workflows to identify opportunities for streamlining and optimizing system operations.
• Inventory Management:
  • Assist in procurement of pumps and equipment, as well as critical spares.
  • Conduct monthly stock takes for inventory items under M&E CAPEX works, compile stock take report and reconcile for any variances.

Project Management:

• Project Planning:
  • Scope and Requirements: Assist in defining project scope, objectives, and requirements in collaboration with stakeholders. Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and budgets. Develop and manage tender documentation and procurement of works for the OPEX and CAPEX works for the M&E department.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to address them. Monitor project progress and address any issues that arise.
• Coordination:
  • Team Management: Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and vendors to ensure successful project execution. Facilitate communication between all parties involved to ensure alignment and resolve any conflicts.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that all project deliverables meet quality standards and specifications. Conduct regular project reviews and inspections to monitor progress and verify adherence to project requirements.

Compliance and Safety:

• Regulatory Compliance:
  • Standards Adherence: Ensure that all mechanical systems comply with relevant local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and safety standards.
  • Documentation: Assist in maintaining records of compliance activities, including inspections, certifications, and audits. Prepare documentation required for regulatory reporting and inspections.
• Safety Protocols:
  • Safety Procedures: Develop and enforce safety procedures related to mechanical work, including lockout/tagout protocols, hazard assessments, and emergency response plans.
  • Training: Conduct safety training for staff, ensuring they are aware of potential hazards and follow proper safety practices.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Technical Documentation:
  • Record Keeping: Assist in maintaining a comprehensive documentation of system designs, modifications, maintenance activities, and compliance inspections. Ensure that all records are accurate, organized, and readily accessible.
  • Documentation Updates: Regularly update technical documentation to reflect changes in systems, procedures, or regulations.
• Reporting:
  • Performance Reports: Prepare detailed reports on system performance, maintenance activities, and project progress. Present findings and recommendations to management and other stakeholders.
  • Incident Reports: Document and report on any incidents, including system failures, safety breaches, or regulatory non-compliance. Provide recommendations for corrective actions.

  • Performance Reviews: Conduct regular reviews of mechanical systems to assess performance and identify areas for improvement. Implement solutions to enhance system reliability and efficiency.

  • Technology Integration: Stay abreast of industry trends and technological advancements. Evaluate and recommend the adoption of new technologies to improve system operations and reduce costs.
